Mahjong Siaoness

Helloo everyone,

This is one of the songs for our mahjong scene aka cantonese song sequence "麻将爱歌” (The Mahjong Love Song) sung by Catherine Sng. Music composed and recorded with the help of Lee Wei Song School of Music & Lyrics by Catherine Sng herself!

This was filmed during rehearsals on 24th November (Mon). Haha here's a funny video of Chin Hwee, our director, and Joanna (one of our very nice helpers). Enjoy! More videos and photos to come! =)

*..Script-Read & Rehearsals..*

Hello world!

Thought it's high time for some updates. In a way, store-bought love has reached the 2nd stage of productions, and passed pre-production stage, so here's some pictorial updates!

On 8th November 2008 (Saturday), we had our 1st script read. Managed to get Michael, Vadi, Vicky, Catherine, Benjamin & Kewei down. Heh heh, location was of course a room in our sch's library. Located on the 5th floor and there was absolutely no lifts to that venue, so really sorry for making all our casts climb all the way up. They were panting when they reached the room. haha, good exercise huh!

Turned out that the casts more or less knew one another from some affiliations here and there. =) So they mingled quite well together. We did some behind the scenes videos as well! Shall post these up when we've edited them nicely together.

And we had our 1st rehearsals on 17th November (Monday) at Dengli's house. Managed to get Catherine, Kewei and Benjamin down. Haha really hard to plan a date whereby all our 8 casts would be available at once. Hopefully for our photoshoot session, such would be possible! can't wait for that! =)

CREW SHIRT

Yay this is the current final design...apart from the curvy words inside the circle that I asked Singwei(thanks for helping by the way) to help me do using photoshop, I did the rest using fireworks~ So, don't look down on fireworks (and i kept saying firefox lol~!!!)

Dengzpui's First Entry

Omg hi! Finally I'm allowed to blog on this blog lol. Hi. My Name is Dengli and I'm the newly joined member of this IBP group taking the role of AD and AP.

I know XiuQi is very busy, so I shall help her update this blog lol incase there are regular readers muahaha...so currently we are in the midst of doing everything, eg. PROPS~!!! AND TSHIRTS~!!!

A few days back I was given ONE NIGHT to think of designs for the casts that will be printed on their shirts..and also our crew shirt design...and so I panicked because it was like..midnight already... Anyway I tried asking this guy I know- Alvin (http://alvinology.wordpress.com/), who does drawings too and asked him if he could help me but he was busy la, BUT THANKS TO HIM, he intro-ed me to this graphics loyalty free website which gave me alot of inspirations~ so from the website I designed this:



But very ugly la I know...and I'm not good with photoshop and stuffs..so the final design is completed by XiuQi:




Anyway, then we started searching for props and we HAPPEN to see these~!!! (so I designed all the logos for each character for nothing la..tsk lol) but its okay, because this is so much cuter~!!! And cheap! [But I accidentally cut my FINGER~!!! while trying to remove the black metal part =( and blood dripped profusely. ]

How to get there by PUBLIC TRANSPORT (MRT and/or BUS):

Buses from Clementi MRT: 154, 184
Buses along Clementi Road: 52, 61, 74, 75, 151, 154, 184

Buses from Dover MRT: 74
(To get to Dover bus stop, turn left after exiting from MRT gates, alight after SIM)

The smiley face points to the corresponding block. Enter by the recommended entrance. This entrance would be the one just behind the bus stop, walk along the pathway of the SPORT COURT. Turn right and walk up the hill. You will see the convention centre (Green Glass building) on the right and keep walking till the top of the hill (Blk 52). Keep walking till you see the audition venue is just round the bend.

*P/S: by the way, the SPORT COURT as indicated in the map is actually the street soccer court, you wouldn't miss it.



If it's too complicated, not to worry. We will be putting up signs guiding you from the entrance to the audition venue, so look out for them! =) Should you still be unable to locate the place, feel free to call XiuQi at 97992661.

*..#2 Auditions on 3rd Oct 2008..*

We had our 1st round of auditions 2 weeks ago and some people were unable to make it. So good news, we'll be holding another session on 3rd Oct (Friday). Especially if you enjoy singing, dancing & acting, we sincerely welcome you to come down for our 2nd round of auditions. If you're unable to make it on that day, contact us anyway and we'll come up with an arrangement somehow.

Filming stipulated to be 4-5 days within the period of Nov 13-29th.

As this is a self-funded students' film, we do not have a huge budget for high renumeration. However, we would definitely cover all meal and transport expenses, as well as a token sum (per day), depending on the amount we're able to get from sponsors. To be confirmed again. This thesis film project would also be sent for competition in film festivals by our institution upon completion.

Helloo dear all!

A short introduction to our production team! =) We have 5 official crew members for this IBP (Industry-Based Project), which constitutes 25 credits for our final semester at FSV.

Here's our inaugural photograph together taken on 3rd September 2008. =)

Haha we have supporting crew members as well! =) None other than supportive friends of course, who've pledged and signed in blood their loyalty. HAHAHA okay an exaggeration.

Here's LAM YONG JIN! Everyone calls him AH LAM. Being a musical, we would require more help on the audio aspect. Presenting, AH LAM, our AUDIO ENGINEER! He's also our GAFFER. Look at the pic, supporting the light stand and hanging the headphones around his neck. Some multi-tasking there. =)


Then there's UNCLE SOFYAN!!! another coursemate of ours! He's our other SOUND ENGINEER, who has very kindly volunteered his "services" amidst his tight schedule!!!! =)


Ah Lam says that since he holds 2 crew positions, there should be 2 photos of him, so here goes.


That isn't a complete list of our crew members as yet, still in the process of hunting for more. Songwriters, Lyricists, Choreographers, Production Assistants, Still Photographer (probably myself haha!) etc.

*..What should I expect at the auditions?..*

Hello dear all!

Foremost, not to worry too much about which role you'll be auditioning for. We will give you proper directions as to what scenarios you could "act out" during the audition, then match you to the possible roles you could be suited for. Just relax, and be yourself. We just want to see you being yourself. =) And probably hear your singing voice or whatsoever talents you'll be glad to share with us (it's definitely optional. Monologues, dances, etcetera)

(1) Prepare a verse of your favourite song! We're not particular with the language, we just want to check out your vocals. =)

(2) A short dance sequence if you'd like.

(3) Just bring yourself, that's the most essential element!

We'd like to maintain an element of surprise for the people going for the audition, see all of your first hand reactions to our questions etc, so we'd like those awaiting their turns to wait outside till you're called. Don't worry, we've prepared drinks for you (in case you get bored and thirsty) =)

If you haven't sent me an email informing me of your time slot or interest in this audition, not to worry! We still welcome you anytime. Just drop by with your friends or family who share the same interest, and drop me (XiuQi) an sms at 97992661 to let me know what time you'll be arriving so that we could make the relevant arrangements.

Enter that gate and walk along the covered walkway till you reach a zebra crossing. Cross over and you'll see a short flight of stairs leading to LT 73. (Note that auditions would be at LT 73A)

*..More about this project..*

Helloo world! An update on the status of our project now. We have locked the story at this. =)

Short overview of story
***************************
This short-film musical of the romantic-comedy genre would bring us through the importance of plucking up one's courage and persisting in the fight for one's dreams. It speaks of how an introverted supermarket worker (Ah Mann), who has fallen in love with a female regular patron (Jamie), has one last night to profess his love for her just before the supermarket closes down.

A very strong obstacle he has to overcome would be his competitive rival at love and at work, Ah Lok. Ah Mann realizes that in order to defeat Ah Lok and to win over the love of his life, he has to first step out of his hermit shell. Together as one, the quirky supermarket workers come together as they wreck their brains to help Ah Mann succeed in this game of love.

The bashful Ah Mann has a song in his heart that he can never seem to complete. The closely-knit supermarket staff come together in one accord to help him in the completion of this song--However, it is Jamie who holds the key to the song's finale.

*..First Auditions..*

Hello all! This is our casting call which all of you will see on the streets of Singapore (we'll be distributing it all over the island! haha!). We are happy to invite everybody who is interested to come. Please take a look at our casting call (pop the picture up), and do help to spread the word too.
